The 17 th Annual Convocation of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada was conducted in Tummalapallivari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram on 27 th April, 2013.

Hon'ble Governor and Chancellor of the University Sri ESL Narasimhan presided over the function. Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) D.Sc. award was presented to Dr. V. Shanta, Chairman, Cancer Institute, Adayar for her outstanding contributions in the field of Medicine more particularly in management and control of cancer. She was honoured with several awards including the prestigious Raman Magsaysay Award and Padmabhushan. She was the Chief Guest of the Convocation and delivered the Convocation address.

In the year 2012-13, a total number of 13,287 candidates qualified to receive degrees of various courses, both Undergraduation and Postgraduation. Of them 70 candidates (Ph.D- 9, Superspeciality-8 and Postgraduate Degrees - 53) were issued Degrees in person in the Convocation. 1,094 candidates received their degrees in absentia. 6,053 were issued Degrees in advance of the Convocation and remaining 6,070 Degrees will be issued post Convocation.

In this Convocation, a total number of 53 candidates were awarded with 75 Gold, Silver and Cash prizes for their meritorious performance during their course of study in the respective Degree/Diploma courses.
